Jenny’s story - born with a cleft lip and palate and a deeply sensitive personality, Jenny coped with being different and the many operations and medical visits her condition entailed. That is until the day, as an eight year old, the doctor told her the severe illness she had just come through had left her with the incurable Type 1 diabetes. Even the doctor shed tears as he told her mother to take Jenny straight to the Wagga Wagga Base hospital to begin learning how to inject herself daily and eat carefully measured portions of food.

From that day Jenny begged God to take away the ’conditions’ that made her different, and became discouraged when He appeared to ignore her request. She became shy and withdrawn, and came to a point as a teenager where she couldn't bear anyone to look her in the face. Emotionally crippled, she begged God many times to take her life. Again, He ignored her request. Finally, one day feeling overwhelmed at a Christian camp full of people, she begged God that if He wouldn’t take her life that He would at least make something of it. And He did. From that day, emotional healing began for Jenny as she discovered the love of God that looks beyond appearance and weakness and which instead creates a new, clean heart with a value above all earthly beauty.

Jenny began to look outside herself and see a world in need. The shy, emotionally crippled teenager began standing before large groups of people and sharing her story of healing by the God of miracles. She began to reach out to others in her school and saw many come to know and love the Lord. And in her last weeks of school she stood before those who had bullied and teased her as a young teenager, and shared with them the eternal hope we can all have in Christ. Jenny’s operations were all complete, and though the plastic surgeons had improved her physical appearance, some scars would always remain. However, true and complete healing had happened in her heart. She was scarred no more!
